Beware the sirens, on briny rocks they loom
Eager to drag you to your watery doom
The mermaid lures you close with her haunting song
Dredges weakness from the strong

A chorus beckons you forward
From your ship to the lagoon
There, a school of mermaids
You will reach soon

With faces pure and taut, and eyes of treasured gold
Enchanting you with melodies, familiar and old
Enraptured and entranced, your conscience bound
Visions of delight, your bodies intertwound

But as you draw closer
Towards these goddesses of yore
Soon you shall be captured
On their ensnaring shore

A flash of eye from a captivating pool
Waving you to join them, another helpless fool
A pearl-shine smile to beguile
Your corpse they’ll soon defile

Dipping just a toe
They’ll drag you under
Swarming all ‘round
To tear you all asunder

Try as you might, they’ll pull you underneath
And then begins the horrid, vile gnashing of teeth
Pulling, tearing, ripping, relentlessly they thresh
Ceaselessly they masticate, gorging on your flesh

Nothing will remain of you,
but the story and the bone.
